"A truck... Drove through your salon? Wait what?"
A truck drove through our building—you heard it right. Now it’s time for a major facelift. You’re hearing it first from Redhead owners, Brooke and Brian Shrieve.
In case you’re out of the loop…
A pickup truck slammed through our front window and wall a little over two weeks ago on Thursday, September 27, leaving the building in need of extreme structural repairs. The truck’s driver was already on police radar because he had allegedly fired a gunshot into the air earlier that afternoon. Thankfully, no customers or employees were harmed in the accident.
So… Now what?
We’re working out of our temporary location at 3601 North Briarwood Lane in Lyndenbrook. Despite the craziness, we’re still the same—same phone number, stylists, products, and we’re always accepting new clients.
How has this affected your service or your business as a whole?
Luckily, we don’t think the accident has affected our business at all. We have worked hard to provide a smooth transition for everyone throughout this entire process. We’re blessed to have amazing clients and such a supportive staff.
Do you think competitors have an advantage over you right now?
Honestly, no, not at all. We’re confident that our upgraded services are still the best. The temporary location doesn’t change anything—clients, both new and old, will receive premium treatment and be able to purchase Davines products just like before. We also haven’t stopped offering educational classes for our stylists, including various business professional, cutting and styling classes. Ongoing education has always been very important to our family-owned business, and it’s certainly still valued despite recent events.
How are you putting a positive spin on the accident?
We’re excited! Yes, the accident was unfortunate, but we’re looking forward to being able to grow from where we started—and now we have that opportunity. It’s time to move forward and look at the bigger picture. We’re currently rebuilding a new, advanced and modernized salon. Our ultimate goal is to enhance the overall salon experience for both clients and staff.
Has your staff been supportive throughout this process?
Yes, our staff is truly awesome. We couldn’t have asked for better attitudes from everyone. Our current staff is without a doubt the best staff we’ve ever had at Redhead.
When do you plan to reopen?
We’re shooting to reopen in December if all goes as planned… A holiday launch is idyllic for us.
What are your biggest goals for Redhead in the future?
As of now, not many of our goals have changed. We’re planning to grow by hiring more highly trained stylists. Because we value and practice continuing education, we’re hoping to stay ahead of the curve and competition in the area. Overall, it’s our main goal to offer memorable service opportunities by continuously upgrading the salon experience through various innovations whenever possible.
Are there any major changes you’re planning to implement upon reopening?
We’re excited about adding new features including a washroom and upgraded cutting and styling areas. Now that we’ve been in business for over seven years, we’re confident that our new layout will positively accent our work ethic, and our clients’ overall experience.
How has the community responded to the accident?
We are incredibly thankful to be part of the Muncie community, especially after the unbelievable amount of support we’ve received over the past few weeks—everything from cards to phone calls to people offering to babysit our kids so we have more time in the work week. We’re lucky to have such an amazing support system, especially during this time.
You win some; you lose some—right? Nevertheless, our Redhead family is working hard to ensure a bright future for the business. Have any thoughts about the accident?
